ADVOCATING FOR YOUR CHILD’S EDUCATION.

You don’t have to navigate the school system alone anymore.

Does your child's school team feel more like adversaries than teammates?

Perhaps you aren’t being treated as an equal in the process?

Is there a clear difference between what the school recommends and what you know your child needs?

An educational advocate can provide the fresh perspective and expertise needed to finally come to a resolution.

IEP/504 SERVICES

  • All work necessary to prepare for and attend student meetings, inclusive of IEP or 504 Plan Snapshot, records review, educational recommendations and 2 hours of meeting attendance.

    TIME: 7 hours

    INVESTMENT: $850

  • Educational plans are the legal contracts that detail and guarantee school-based services. NorthStar Educational Advocates will analyze the current educational plan in relation to your child's strengths and needs, and identify any revisions that would ensure the document is followed accurately.

    TIME: 2 hours

    INVESTMENT: $250

  • Sometimes parents feel most comfortable attending IEP meetings alone, but still want the advantage of having an advocate in their corner. NorthStar Educational Advocates can work with you behind the scenes to ensure you’re ready to meet with your child’s school. We will review draft documents, teach you about your parent rights and responsibilities, and prepare you for possible meeting outcomes. A follow up session after the meeting will include providing feedback on documents and advising you on the best next step for your child.

    TIME: 2-5 hours

    INVESTMENT: $250-500

RECORDS AND CLASSROOM SERVICES

  • In depth analysis and audit of all information related to a child’s education. Educational records must remain confidential and be maintained appropriately. Examples of educational records include: transcripts, district and state testing reports, work samples, e-mails, and any documentation relating to special education.

    TIME: 4 hours

    INVESTMENT: $500

  • Behavior always occurs in a context, and observing in that context is critical for defining and understanding the behavior. Observations may also help to identify the antecedents (what happens before the target behavior) and consequences (what happens after the target behavior) so that meaningful behavioral interventions can be developed.

    TIME: 1 hour

    INVESTMENT: $125

  • Navigating what differentiates schools and programs can be confusing and overwhelming. Starting with a thorough records review and site visits, NorthStar can help determine the appropriateness of a placement.

    TIME: 4 hours

    INVESTMENT: $500

OTHER SERVICES

  • The loss of services can have profound consequences and can limit your child’s opportunities in the future. Compensatory education requires the school district to provide or fund services to “compensate” for earlier deprivations of a child’s right to a free, appropriate public education. NorthStar Educational Advocates can help you obtain these services, or will refer you to an attorney who specializes in this area.

    TIME: 2-4 hours

    INVESTMENT: $250-500

  • Advocacy services provided on an ongoing basis means you have an advocate on call to you whenever you need. Examples of ongoing services include communicating with your child's school on your behalf, data collection and analysis, and therapeutic or legal referrals.

    TIME: 5 hours

    INVESTMENT: $625

Feel free to reach out if you are in need of services outside of the options listed. Our hourly rate is typically $125/hr, and the packages listed are designed with a discounted rate.
